Family
Andrew was raised in Mount Gilead where he met his future wife, Laura Wick (Carver). The couple married in 2011 shortly after Andrew began practicing law. The couple lived for five years in Chesterville before returning to Mount Gilead and moving Laura’s family in to help provide support to Andrew’s mother in law, Donna Carver, whose other adult children have disabilities.
Andrew and Laura have a son, Aiden, who is eight years old and attends school at Mount Gilead and enjoys playing baseball in the Summer and Fall which Andrew has volunteered to coach for the last 3 years as well as regularly being involved in cub scouts.
He volunteers with the local Republican Party and other organizations in the county being a regular presence at the Morrow County Fair in the Pork Producers, Cattlemens, and Dairy Producer booths as well as helping at the gates.
The family is rounded out by their dog, Tavish, who was adopted from the Morrow County dog shelter, where Andrew and Laura have fostered before.
Andrew was raised with the work ethic that the day is not done until the work that needs accomplished is. As a result Andrew has always been in whatever office he is working in before it opens and works there until dinner time before resuming again after his family has gone to bed. Despite his long hours, Andrew makes sure that the family always sits down to dinner together, an act of togetherness that Andrew wishes all families could enjoy for the togetherness it creates.
Religion
Andrew is a lifelong Christian being raised in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cardington and St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Woodbury. After getting married, Andrew and Laura attended First Baptist Church of Mount Gilead and now attend Sparta United Methodist Church. Andrew believes that the greatest act one can do when faced with a problem is to take it to the Lord in prayer and listen.
Employment
Andrew has been an attorney since May 2011 after graduating from Ohio Northern Law School a semester early. Andrew was in private practice from 2011 until the Summer of 2022 where he practiced in numerous areas of law in a number of counties as he was asked to be on the court appointed list for criminal defense in Ashland, Knox, and Marion counties along with Morrow. Andrew served as a Guardian Ad Litem where he protected the best interest of children when they were at their most vulnerable and has served as the village attorney for Chesterville since late 2015.
After being lead counsel on a double aggravated murder case in Morrow County, Andrew was called in July 2022, to serve as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Richland County where he handled hundreds of cases involving serious felonies and was asked after a month and a half at the office to help try a complex aggravated murder case that was set for trial that fall. The trial team achieved 17 guilty verdicts on all counts with the Defendant getting sentenced to life without parole.
As a result of his abilities, Andrew was recruited to become a magistrate in Richland County Domestic Court and to be in charge of hearing Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Restraining Orders as well as Child Support Enforcement. When Andrew joined the Court there was a massive backlog in child support cases that required two full days a week for hearings. After six months, Andrew had collected more than $250,000 in delinquent child support and gotten the needed time for hearings down to one day a week. Andrew also sought out training for trauma informed interactions with parties coming before him to better serve the community.
After being asked to run for prosecutor in Morrow County during the Summer of 2023, Andrew asked God to show him what his path should be. Licking County Prosecutor’s Office offered him a position shortly thereafter with a significant raise and the same opportunities to be home with his family for dinner as well as coaching his son’s baseball team. Since joining the office, Andrew has successfully prosecuted dozens of cases and regularly is assigned to cases involving the victimization of children due to his background and experience.
As a prosecutor, Andrew has obtained a reputation for being fair, but aggressive in the prosecution of crimes against others and crimes involving the trafficking of drugs. At both offices Andrew was recognized by the victim witness staff for his compassionate treatment of victims and zeal to achieve a just result.
